Acne Scar

Acne scar is one of the greatest misfortunes not only of teenagers but of adults as well. In the simplest terms, acne scar forms at the site of an acne injury to tissue. It is the visible reminder of injury and tissue repair caused by the inflammatory response of your body to sebum, dead skin cells, and bacteria that thrive in the plugged sebaceous follicle.

Acne scar has basically two different types as found out by some medical studies. The first type is the ice pick scar or the depressed area, and the other type is the raised thickened tissue like keloids. These types of acne scar are said to result from severe inflammatory nodulocystic acne that occurs deep in the skin. However, there are some findings that note that acne scarring may appear from more superficial inflamed lesions.

The occurrence and development of acne scar is still not well understood, however. Some findings have noted that there is basically a considerable variation in acne scarring between one person and another. The findings indicated that some individuals are more prone to acne scarring than others.

The life history of acne scar is also not well understood. Some of the acne scars last for a lifetime with little changes on its appearance, while some undergoes a new level of remodeling and acne scars just ebb in size. Apart from that, people also have differing feelings about acne scars. As you may know, scars that are of more or less the same size may be psychologically distressing and embarrassing to one person or it may be acceptable to another. It is basically the person who found it distressing and embarrassing that is more likely to seek a form of acne treatment that will help reduce and eliminate the scars.

Speaking of treatment for acne scars, there are some products out there on the market that can aid you through the removal process. There are also some technologically advanced methods like the laser resurfacing and dermabrasion that are so effective for the acne scar elimination. However, the only sure approach of preventing and reducing the extent of scars is basically to treat your acne early in its course and as long as possible. Always note that the more inflammation there is, the more it is that scars can’t be prevented or eliminated. And, those who have acne with a great tendency to scarring must then be under the care of a dermatologist.
